It is not fixed at all. All my widgets are replaced par the default ones (I use Andreas09).
The themes menu bar is also changed.

yes, another time my widgets disappear

My Garland is now fixed, but I had to put the widgets back in place, but it looks good now: http://ninglun.wordpress.com/ On my other blog I decided to stay with a two-column after all — Rounded — for now at least. Also working fine. http://neilwhitfield.wordpress.com/ Thanks for the work, people.

I have the theme Blix. I tried the drop down menu for the categories, I saved and saw them last night. Today, and still just now the categories are back to normal in one long row. The drop down is still ticked and visible as v in the admin side of the blog. Anyone having this?

    Sorted!

Thanks. It didn’t work at first, but another “save changes” without actually changing anything and it came back to life.

Thanks for attending to it straight away.

For a free service, you get more support and faster responses that I’d personally expect so I will not complain about such a minor in convenience.

    PS To radiantwomen,

if my experience today is anything to go by, un-tick it and save, then go back to the options, re-tick and save and then reload your page. I would expect that to do the trick.

Same with any other settings that are being ignored.

Thank you for fixing this so quickly.
I confess to some momentary panic last night when my blog using the Garland theme wasn’t working.

still not resolved for me! :°(

    Hi there,
My blog seems to have defaulted as well.
Even the dashboard is not working right and shows “default messages” (two, then one) that seems to be in the way. Feedback is also not working from the dashboard. (I did send in from the support page)
Just wondering: if the bug is fixed, should the blog now look normal again by going back to what it was? Is this bug really fixed or slightly fixed as the Andreas9 theme I am using seems to remain in “default” mode.
I did try changing my theme (to another tree column one) but even that did not work as it appears as a “default” within that theme as well. I changed it back to And9 and it is still in default mode.
I added a few widgets, saved, changed some stuff but it remains basically in default.

Is there something else I should be trying to make this easier and less time consuming?
    Thanks

I’m in the same boat. Any chance I can get mine restored as well?

    Best,

If your widgets are still messed up, send a Feedback to staff.

I have put in a note to support. As “gottabkd” above, I am also using the Andreas9 theme.

I rebuilt my sidebars from scratch using widgets and text widgets yesterday. My site is now looking as I want it too, regardless of what is happening system wide. You may try rebuilding your sidebar (s) again through the widgets in presentation. Hope this helps.

Gotta admit though that I disagree with that but feel free to do it. Automattic does do backups. Not sure which method they would suggest in this case though.

I agree with Dr. Mike. They should just restore everything from before. Now it will/has taken me hours to complete. If they fix one that has gone wrong, they should fix them all.

I received this from Mark today:
    Hi,
    Please do this:
    – go to your Presentation page
    – click Sidebar widgets
    – rearrange them
    – Save them
    – on your blog reload by pressing:
    ctrl+f5 (Windows)
    apple+r (Mac)
    f5 (Linux)

    Please do the above carefully.

    Mark

Sounds like a “rebuild-do-it-yourself” answer to me, which I am working on now as the site is just plain ugly.
And before you all jump on the “free” routine, I know that already. It’s just that the free user’s are the one’s that suffer when the testing is happening. It’s just a little frustrating is all I’m saying *sigh* but it happens.
Thanks Dr. Mike for your candid responses. They are appreciated.

Yeah, that sounds like a reload. The moving around bit sounds like the data is there, the script just isn’t seeing the data. Rearranging the widgets gets the system to recognize them.
