“Discarded”
-
I’m trying to publish a comment on someone’s blog and I keep getting a “Discarded” message, why is this?
-
Could you give us a link to the blog you’re trying to comment on? Is it on wordpress.COM?

Have you by chance made any controversial comments that would have led the admin of the blog to “blacklist” you?
Other than that, my only suggestion would be to contact staff. The volunteers here do not have back end access to see what the problem might be.

Maybe try commenting on a couple other wordpress.com blogs when you’re logged on and see what happens?

No I haven’t been blacklisted because it is my first comment on this particular blog and the author commented on mine.
But thanks I will contact Support if the problem persists. :)

I tried on a friend’s WP.com blog and I didn’t get the message. How strange.
-
OK I tried yours thesacredpath, works fine, but on this guy’s blog keeps doing it every time! It’s obviously not my problem.
-
OK, I see what is happening. Somehow you are getting caught by Akismet, the spam filter. That’s where you comment is on my blog. I’ve “despammed” you which should start the process, but my suggestion is to contact akismet.

Ah, now that you mention Akismet, when he published a comment on mine, the comment was “caught” in the Akismet filter which caused me to have to “despam” the comment.
Does Akismet constantly have this problem?

Akismet has to change their stuff to try and keep ahead of the spammers, and when they do, it seems some legitimate commenters always end up getting caught by the change. Akismet learns so after a few people despam you over several days, Akismet typically gets things straightened out, but contacting Akismet and asking them do it right away is a good idea. Sometimes I’ve seen it take weeks for Akismet to “learn” although not normally.
-
I understand fully, it learns as it goes. Right.
Thank you for your assistance thesacredpath and others.

You can contact Akismet directly and ask for “divine intervention” if de-spamming you doesn’t work. Akismet is owned by the same company as WordPress, so they do work closely together (to say the least).
