Disconnect a website from woocommerce/wordpress

  • Unknown's avatar

My website is built with WordPress, self-hosted on Hostinger. It has Woocommerce plugin and I decided to use the WooPayments payment method. That invited me to connect my Woocommerce/WordPress account (which I don’t use otherwise) and then create a Stripe account.

Now I want to disconnect all this so that another admininstrator can set it up using her email, accounts and banking details. I’m having trouble disconnecting them and “resetting” the WooPayments function on the website.

Stripe said they couldn’t help and I had to ask Woocommerce. When I try to “Leave the site” on my WordPress dashboard, it says I can’t because I need to transfer the ownership. But I’m not the owner. AI support suggested JetPack but there is no JetPack plugin on the website.

    Any help?

Also to say; on my WordPress dashboard, it says the website’s host is WordPress.com – but it’s self-hosted with Hostinger!

    Hello @webmediastuff

Since your site is self-hosted on Hostinger, you don’t need WordPress.com to manage WooPayments everything happens in your site’s own dashboard. To reset things so another admin can connect their details:

    1. In WP Admin go to WooCommerce → Settings → Payments → WooPayments → click Manage → then Disconnect.
      WooPayments setup & disconnection guide
    2. If the option doesn’t appear, deactivate and delete the WooPayments plugin, then reinstall it. On reinstall, it will prompt the new administrator to connect with her WooCommerce.com/Stripe account.
    3. The “Leave site / ownership” message comes from the WordPress.com connection, but since your site is hosted on Hostinger, you can safely disconnect WooPayments without transferring WordPress.com ownership.

If you still get stuck, WooCommerce support is the right place to escalate:

    Hey, thanks for your support.

    1. There is no Disconnect option in my WP Admin.

    2. I tried deactivating/deleting the plugin but after reinstall, it was still connected.

    3. When I click the Leave button, a drop down appears with a message about ownership – only two options appear – Transfer and Cancel. Neither button does anything except make the dropdown disappear.

I will try WooCommerce Support but they directed me to this forum because I do not have a paid plan.

If I just delete my WordPress/WooCommerce account, will that do the trick?

    Thanks!

Hey there, @webmediastuff If you don’t have a paid WooCommerce extension, you can find their free support forum on the ORG site.
