Disconnect some sites from my profile
-
In the past I monitored a WordPress site for my church, and helped a friend with his, so my account is linked to those. At this time I am no longer affiliated with those sites. I don’t necessarily want them to be ‘deleted,’ but is there a way to disconnect ‘me’ from ‘them?’ I’d like to set up my own site instead. Thanks for the help!

Hi there,
Yes, there is a way. You can transfer the site to another WordPress.com account so that you no longer own that site.Ask ‘them’ to create a WordPress account and then transfer the ownership of the site from your account to their account by following the instructions given here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/transferring-a-site-to-another-wordpress-com-account/
Hope this helps :)

Thanks! Can the sites just be deleted? I know the church doesn’t even use the WordPress account.

Yes, there is.
Just follow the instructions given here to delete the site:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/NOTE:
This process cannot be reversed. You cannot recover your site once deleted and also your cannot use the blog address of this deleted site again. You can keep your current blog address and still delete everything from your site. In that case, you just need to empty your site.
Read more about emptying your site here:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/empty-site/Hope it helps :)

Thank you for your help! I was able to disconnect from the church blog site, and I was “only” an admin on my friends site so I removed myself from it. Now I can start fresh with my own project! :)
