Disconnect Twitter from Publicize
-
A couple of months ago I connected the blog I look after to Twitter using the Publicize option.
A couple of days ago I was asked to stop this and so I disconnected it and it looks as expected when I look at the Settings/Publicize information.
However, the post I published this morning has also resulted in a tweet on Twitter.
How can I stop this from happening?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I also see that the Twitter Followers are showing on the blog’s subscriber tally which suggests the two are still connected in some way.

I’m not sure why this would be happening, but I would also check each time you write a post that that particular post’s publicize options are set to not send the post out through Twitter, and see if that works. It would be a temporary workaround, but it would stop (hopefully) stop the Twitter publishing until the root cause is found.

Hi ecumenicallife – thanks for the suggestion. It sounded very plausible as a possible reason for the problem. I’ve just checked and can confirm that new posts are showing the publicize option as none.
Back to the drawing board…

I’ve managed to work it out for myself. You also have to disable WordPress access within Twitter itself. Seems strange that this is needed when the Publicize option within WordPress isn’t enabled, but that’s what I did and the automated tweets have stopped.
