disconnected from my blog

Wordpress is not recognizing me as the creator of Welcome!, a blog I’ve been posting since 2008. Please help me to reconnect with my blog.

    WP.com: Yes
    Correct account: Unknown

  • Hi, I don’t see any WordPress.com sites under your account here.

Would you please share the URL of the site you’re trying to access?

Once we know that, we should be able to help or at least direct you to the folks who can.

    Macmanx:

My blog is called “Welcome!” I’ve been posting it on WordPress since 1998. Its url is goldberg.wordpress.com. My email is My phone number is

When Dell replaced my hard drive my link to my dashboard was lost. The link I had written down, goldberg.wordpress.com/wp-admin, took me to a Googlesearch with 507,000 entries.

I do not have any of the three forms of identification requested when I follow the traditional chain to reestablish connection. Indeed, in trying to resolve this on my own I inadvertantly established a new blog.

I do not want a new blog. I want your help in regaining connection to my blog that I might continue posting.

  • Hi there, I took a look at https://goldberg.wordpress.com/ and it belongs to a different WordPress.com account here, not the one you’re currently logged in with.

Perhaps you have more than one account here? I can’t share exactly what email address that site is attached to, but I can say it belongs to a university alumni email.

I hope that helps, and if you do not recall the password, we have some options for you at https://wordpress.com/support/account-recovery/

Please let us know if you have any more questions!

    Macmanx,

It’s Richard again. I’ve succeeded in reconnecting to my blog and I thank you. Now I’m being told I’ve run out of space and can’t post. How do I get–buy–more space so as to continue posting to the world?

    Richard

  • Hi there,

I’m glad to see you have regained access to your account. However, we do not offer a standalone space upgrade at this time. The only way to get extra space under your account is to upgrade to the WordPress.com Pro Plan. More info here.

Another option is to delete any images in your media library that you know to be unused and free up space that way.

We plan to release a la carte upgrades in the future, but we do not have a timeline for launch. One way that you could get around the space limitation until then is to start a second free site on your account. This will give you an additional 1GB of space (on that site), so you could use it simply as a place to upload your latest images.

Once images are uploaded to this second site, you can copy the media URL for the image, then return to goldberg.wordpress.com and embed the image via its URL. https://wordpress.com/support/media/#obtain-media-url

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
