Disconnecting a site from Postbot
-
Hi there, how can I disconnect Postbot from my below site? I’ve added another site (Shutter Clutter) and want to remove the earlier connection.
There are no settings on Postbot and I’ve looked under Connected Apps in the Settings in the WPcom New Dash, but it’s difficult to discern what needs to be removed and where.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Don’t you see postbot listed at the bottom of https://wordpress.com/settings/security/ ? if not then the connection should be already removed, which means that you won’t be able to login to http://postbot.co

Hi Karim-
Actually, I see two connections to Postbot there, but it’s not possible to tell which connection is to which blog. I only want to remove the one to gammagirl.
One says “Postbot”, the other says “Postbot Authentication”.

Even though I deleted the “Postbot” one, both sites (Random Acts and Shutter Clutter) are still connected on Postbot.
I wasn’t logged into Postbot when I disconnected “Postbot” in my settings.
Should I assume there’s a lag time?

Interesting. I’m going to double check with a developer and will report back to you once I know more.

Ok, it seems there currently isn’t a way of removing a blog from Postbot. You will need to remove both apps from the security page and re-authorize again.
You can track the issue at https://github.com/Automattic/Postbot/issues/14

No go.
Even after removing both authorizations from my WPcom New Dash, waiting about 8 hours and then re-authorizing Postbot to connect to WPcom (I was logged in to WPcom at the time), the same two blogs are still connected on Postbot.
I flushed all cookies and cache after removing the authorizations and prior to reconnecting Postbot to my WPcom account.
So it appears that at the moment there is no way at all to remove a blog from Postbot once you’ve authorized it.

Also, curiously, searching for “Postbot” in the support site does not actually bring up the available Support doc in the search results. http://en.support.wordpress.com/postbot/

OK-so now it gets complicated.
After trying to schedule a post to Shutter Clutter (the site I want the posts to go to) I received a publishing failure that the site authorization was revoked and to reconnect it. This was in spite of the fact that after I reauthorized Postbot just earlier, both Random Acts and Shutter Clutter were shown in the drop down list of sites that I could post to. Now, Random Acts (the site I don’t want to post to) only shows as available.
Upon reauthorization of Shutter Clutter, I notice that there are a lot more “permissions being granted” than the first time. Why is that?

As you can see at https://github.com/Automattic/Postbot/issues/14 the developer added an option to the dropdown menu to disconnect a site from Postbot.

Well, that didn’t quite work as advertised. I can’t seem to disconnect Random Acts even with the new “Disconnect current blog” link on Postbot. I’m using Chrome (latest).
I don’t really have any more time to test this, but thanks for making John aware of the problems.
If you or someone else could update the Support site so that Postbot appears in search results that would be helpful and an explanation on why there’s such a discrepancy between the two “permission” notices that would be great as well.

I was able to disconnect Random Acts for you. Your feedback has been noted and will be addressed accordingly.
Thanks again!

@kardotim-Just one final feedback.
After your above post I cleared my browser cache and cookies and waited a day before accessing Postbot again. To my surprise (chagrin, really) both Random Acts and Shutter Clutter were still connected in the dropdown menu. This time, however, I was able to remove Random Acts using the Disconnect link. Regardless of having removed Random Acts on Postbot, my security settings on WPcom still show both Postbot and Postbot Authentication.
Thanks again for all your help.
