disconnecting from wordpress.com
-
I am trying to uninstall jetpack plugin from 2 worpress.org sites (hilltoparthouse.com and 6ff.b20.myftpupload.com). The jetpack plugin will not uninstall from these wp.org sites. Logging in to my wordpress.com account mysite>settings the ‘Manage your connection’ option seems to be missing. I believe I have to disconnect these wp.org plugins from wp.com before I can successfully delete them. Please advise. regards Rob

Hi there, to disconnect from Jetpack. Go to “My Sites” click on the site you would like to remove, scroll down to “Settings” and right scroll down to “Manage your connection” and select “Disconnect from WordPress.com”
Here is the documentation on that: https://en.support.wordpress.com/disconnect-jetpack-sites/You would then be able to remove the plugin
PS. The step you took is right the “Manage Connection” is at the bottom.
Hope this helps 😎

Thanks @zazter for response.
I am not trying to delete or disconnect a wp.com site. I am trying to delete the jetpack plugin from a wp.org site. Currently I am unable to do this. Some of the plugin files seem to have been deleted (plugin fails to allow re-activation) but it has left junk files behind and it will not delete from the list of plugins.
My assumption was that since the jetpack plugin requires a connection to wp.com to function it would correspondingly need that connection to be disabled to allow the plugin to be deleted cleanly. However the “manage your connection” option does not exist on my account settings page so perhaps this only applies to wp.com sites.
I have successfully deleted this plugin from 2 other sites without a problem.
I previously tried deleting the jetpack folder via sftp but was denied access. However I have now tried renaming the plugin folder before deleting and it now seems to have deleted OK.
Thanks again for your help. -
