  So from what i have seen you cannot create a discussion board/forum for your wordpress.com site. If you were to create a board on another site and wanted it linked so it would be seen on the menu header, please advise.
  If there is any other advice or suggestion, also please advise with my thanks.

  Hi Greg,
  That’s right, you can’t create a forum on a WordPress.com site. If you create one elsewhere, you can link to it using a custom menu: https://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/
