Discussion module option missing from page options in post editor

  comments are enabled in settings/discussion
  but the only modules that show up on my editor pages are:
  sharing
  featured image
  excerpt
  slug

  there are no other options either on the page or in the page options tab. I really need to enable comments on a post, but i cannot for the life of me find where to enable the discussion module

  That’s not as free hosted WordPress.com blog that you are referring to. If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.org click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there and receive advice from WordPress.org bloggers.
