Display articles as ‘summary’ in feed
-
Hi,
I recently changed my blog to the Toujours theme. I want my posts to display as excerpts only, rather than showing the full text. I’ve selected ‘limit feed to excerpt only’, as well as ‘For each article in a feed show summary’, but it hasn’t made any difference. What else can I do?

Hey celiaknox,
You can change the content settings. Go to Customize>>Content Options and choose the “Post Excerpt” radio button.
And you can add an excerpt manually to your posts.

Hi ravichahar, thanks for your reply.
Unfortunately the Toujours theme doesn’t offer the “Content Option” button.
I tried your other suggestion of manually adding an excerpt on one post, but it didn’t change anything.
Any other possibilities??

The manual method should work.
Have you tried after clearing the browser cache and cookies?

The example layout for the theme clearly shows posts displayed as excerpts so I think it’s a fault in the coding. If anyone can help with that I would be grateful, otherwise I’ll have to change themes again unfortunately.

“limit feed to excerpt only” refers to your feed rather than how your site displays on the Internet. These are the free themes that support excerpts: https://wordpress.com/themes/free/filter/blog-excerpts
You could use the “Read more” button with the Toujours theme: https://en.support.wordpress.com/more-tag/
