Display author’s name/link to profile in post header

I may be doing something wrong, or maybe this just the way it works…

This is for a new blog that we created last week for a course that we are teaching. The blog exists for the benefit of those in the class. When I first created the blog last week, I ran a test post to see how it would appear on the page. At that time, the post header contained my name and a link to my profile… fine. That is always a useful feature.

Then I created a welcome page and set that as my home page so that the blog was not my home page. I created a discussion page and display that as a link on the right column of the page.

Now when I post, the author name and link to the profile are not displayed. It would be useful to be able to get this back because there will be three authors on this blog and the readers would probably like to know which author wrote it in case they have questions that they would like to address specifically to the author.

Of course, we can work around this by simply typing our name at the end so that the name would be contained within the body of the post… but it just looks kind of cheesy.

    Two questions…

    1. Is the reason why it is no longer appearing because the discussion page was moved from the home page?

    2. If so, is there a way to get that functionality back? Can I do this using CSS

Thanks in advance for the sharing of your knowledge!

Pages and posts do display things differently.

You might just need to make those posts instead of pages.

You can always change themes; some themes display that information and some don’t. Or you can use the author’s name as a tag or category.

Cool suggestions raincoaster.. thanks. So is there a way to make them posts without having them on the front page? This isn’t a critical issue. I’d rather have the discussion on a different page than have the header appear. I like the tag idea though… good work-around.

Well, if you have a static page set as your front page, they won’t appear there. They WILL appear on the main blog page, though.

I was just looking at the template I’m using and it doesn’t show that information at all… so that there is what caused my confusion from the beginning. When the author name and link to profile appeared before it must have been when I was testing a different template. That’s all I can think of. Anyway, thanks again for the suggestions. The one about the tags was very useful.
