Display Count of Posts per Month?

  I have seen calendars that indicate activity by month. For instance, I think Yahoo! groups do this: a grid with months (January, February …) against year (2012, 2013 …). Each cell in the grid contains a number indicating, in that example, the number of comments posted to the group during the month in question.

  In similar spirit, I would like a type of widget that showed months and years, with the number of posts entered during each month. It would offer a nice alternative to the existing Archives widget.

  My question: is there any way to display something similar, even if only for the blogger’s own private information?

  The archives widget does display this information, if you configure it that way. You could also code a text widget to do it, although it wouldnt’ be dynamic.
