Display error (black line over text)

A strange black line break is showing near the bottom of the visible screen on top of text (both on web and mobile view). Any idea why that would be, and can it be removed?

Hi there,
After a closer look at your site it looks like there were a few empty blocks in your sidebar area, and that was causing some issues that resulted in the line you saw.
I removed those unused blocks, and for me the site appears as normal. If you visit do you see the line still or is it gone for you too?

Thanks for checking!!! Looks like the problem is still there. I cleared history, etc., then went to the site (https://spartants.wordpress.com/). Appeared clean for a moment. But as soon as I accepted cookies, the line reappeared and stayed. I’ve noticed that sometimes it will go away for a bit if I refresh, but comes back when move to other pages within the site, and then across the site. If you wouldn’t mind going there again and checking your view, with a couple refreshes? Thanks again, I really appreciate your help.

It looks like this might be a bug with the theme and the cookie notice we show at the bottom of free sites – I can replicate this on another site with this theme if that notice appears.
I’ve reported this to our developers to look into. But I should note that Twenty Sixteen is an older theme, so this likely won’t be a priority to fix. That said, I’ll update you here if I have any more information.

Thanks again. Hopefully they will have time to fix. If not, I guess I should update to a newer theme. Do you have any recommendations for a theme that is similar to Twenty Sixteen in layout?

You can have a look at other themes with right sidebar:
https://wordpress.com/themes/filter/right-sidebar/.In general, you can try themes without activating them to see how they would look like with your content and how could you customize them.
To do that, click on any theme in the library, choose the option Live Demo. There, on the right upper corner, you’ll see Try&Customize:
