Hi there. What setting are you talking about that says the tagline and search text would be red? I see the Header text has been selected as red, but the tagline and search are not included in that. To change the tagline color you would need to add a line of custom CSS to change the color. More information on using the custom CSS part of your Custom Design upgrade is availabel here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/custom-css/

Thank you, Jenny! I’ll need a bit of time to study the link you sent – sounds like you figured out my problem. I didn’t know about this having to add a line of custom CSS – to my untutored eyes it looked as though they all would come up red. Thank you again. I’ll study and get back to you! :)

Jenny, I’ve looked at the CSS link you referred me to, but I think we’re off track here. I may not have done an adequate job of describing the problem.

If you look at my home page, look at the right side, where a reader could “follow” my blog – see how faint “Follow My Blog Via Email” is? Same thing with “search” and “Recent Posts.”

Instead of showing up easily for the reader to spot, they are faint, almost unnoticeable. And yet, the brightness and two different colors for the FaceBook button shows bright and clear, as does the title of my blog, but not the “motto” underneath.

Thanks, Jenny and anybody else who can help with this.

Hi there, sorry for the delay getting back to you about this.

That font color is part of the Ascetica theme’s design — you can take a look at the Ascetica demo site to see what I mean.

The red header text color you chose only changes the site title’s font color. However, you can use custom CSS to change the font color for other elements on the page. In addition to the link Jen provided earlier, we have tips for getting started with CSS here:

If you questions about how to make specific changes to your site’s design with CSS, most of our CSS support is done in our community forums by both staff and volunteers:

Please let me know if you have any other questions about that. :)
