I got two problems, I’ve been trying but I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. I have chosen the Toujours theme.
To make my displayed posts link to a page.
(For the home page, making the recent posts to list down and linking displayed posts to pages with a “Read more” link)How to make the slideshow from the demo on the Home page,
(I have been trying to follow the instructions but it’s not appearing on the Home I created.)I hope I explained clearly enough and this is for Toujours theme!
Please help and thank you!

Hi,
To make my displayed posts link to a page.
Could you explain precisely what you mean by that?
(For the home page, making the recent posts to list down and linking displayed posts to pages with a “Read more” link)
On the Toujours theme, if you check the box labeled “Display the three most recent posts in a special area above your other posts” at Customize > Theme Options, then the content of those three posts will be truncated automatically at 35 words (I think). See for example the Toujours demo. Other posts, with or without that box checked, will display in full on the blog page. To shorten them with a “Read more” link, use the More tag. See the More Tag support page for instructions.
How to make the slideshow from the demo on the Home page…
The instructions for creating the featured content slideshow, found in the Toujours theme guide say:
Use Featured Content to activate the homepage slideshow:
Have you both set a featured content tag at Customize > Featured Content, and assigned that tag to the posts that you want to display in the slideshow?

Hi musicdoc1!
I’m sorry, from I’ve been watching Youtube for WordPress.com tutorials “Displaying posts to a specific page”.
S
o that the post should link to the page without having a highlighted link but using the image and/or the “Read More” as the link to the page.(Is that explained clearly?)
So as you explain above, yes that’s what I’m looking for! With the read more part!
I’m writing up some more posts to work on the coding and following the instructions too,
I’m trying to get the hang of it and I haven’t blogged for ages. So a lot has changed.
Thank you for helping me!

You’re welcome!
Tutorials you find at YouTube might be for WordPress.org sites. If you go that route, then might sure the tutorials are for WordPress.com sites.
So that the post should link to the page without having a highlighted link but using the image and/or the “Read More” as the link to the page.
Post excerpts in the blog page with “Read more” links typically link to the corresponding full posts, or what WordPress.com refers to as the “single posts,” not to pages. See the Post vs. Page support page if you’re not clear on the differences between those two content types.
The More tag may also be applied to a static page on some themes. See the Using the More Tag in Pages section of the More Tag support page.
The Learn WordPress.com page might be a good place for you to begin learning how to use the WordPress.com.

Correction:
The phrase “might sure” above was a typo. I meant “make sure,” or perhaps “make mighty doggone sure.” : -) -
Cool and thank you!
It’s becoming clearer, I’m so used to making pages as my links from the home page.I also want the posts that relate to my topics on the menu to be shown on its topic menu page. The recent posts show on the home page but I want the posts to appear in their categories as well.
Is that possible on the Toujours theme?
Eg: Food page, you have the recent posts listed on the Food menu page along with its image and writing.
The link for “Learn WordPress.com” isn’t working.
It’s showing: ‘This site can’t be reached’You’re so helpful! (^_^) /

Oh if am I repeating myself…
As I got three posts up where the slideshow is how the image isn’t appearing?
Sorry!

So that the post should link to the page without having a highlighted link but using the image and/or the “Read More” as the link to the page.
1. A “Read more” link is typically a “hightlighted” link. However, how it stands out from other text varies from theme to theme. Links on the Toujours theme are colored blue by default.
2. On the Toujours theme, featured images set on posts will be displayed on the blog page, and the featured images as well as the post titles will link to the corresponding single posts. See the Featured Images support page.
3. You may also create image links within post or page content. See the Image Links support page.

Here’s the Learn WordPress.com page again: https://learn.wordpress.com/. Somehow the colon after https was removed on the other link. Sorry about that.
I also want the posts that relate to my topics on the menu to be shown on its topic menu page. The recent posts show on the home page but I want the posts to appear in their categories as well.
Is that possible on the Toujours theme?
Yes. It’s possible with any theme. I don’t have time at the moment to go into the details, but the Category Pages support page is the place to start.

Are you still having trouble setting up the Featured Content slideshow? It looks like you have one post in the slideshow.
