Displaying a private or pw protected page through another site
-
I’d like to create a page on my wordpress site but have it accessed through a different website.
A bit more information …
We use our wordpress site for sales (a software as a service company). I’d like to post release notes on a wordpress page, but have that page displayed on our software portal page. I don’t want the release notes to be public, but I do want our clients to be able to see them in the portal they are in everyday.
Do I build a page and password protect it? Then have the other site load the page using the password?
Thanks
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Joe – I think the best way to do that would be to create a link to your software portal page from your WordPress.com site. You could use an image to create a button in a page or a Text Widget and link that button to your portal page:
Text WidgetOr you could create a Custom Menu and have one of the menu tabs be a ‘custom link’ that links directly to the portal page:
Custom MenusLet me know if that would work!

Thanks for the reply. It is a bit convoluted but I kind of want to do the reverse. When my clients are logged in on our software portal, I want them to be able to view a page (from the wordpress site) through an iframe. However, I don’t want that wordpress page viewable by the general public.
Perhaps I can create a wordpress page and just not add it to the menu/navigation. Someone can still get to it if they knew the url but maybe that is the easiest.

Hi Joe – Yes, in that case, it would be better to just not add it to the navigation. We don’t really recommend iframes, as they can cause issues for you.
You can password-protect any page:
