Displaying gallery as grid of picture

On the gallery page of my blog I’d like to display my photos as a grid of pictures of the same size, as opposed to one below the other. I’ve already uploaded the images – I’m assuming I have to change the ‘number of columns’ in gallery settings (correct?), but is there a way to do this without having to resize each picture?

Also, is there a way to manually resize the image one uploaded instead of just altering the percentage?

Hope these questions make sense and thank you in advance for enlightening me – I’m new to this.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You can use the WP gallery feature instead of inserting the images individually. SEe here:

By default, images will show up as 3-column thumbnails, but you can change that. The default displayed size is set in Settings>Media.

But note that the files you’ve been uploading are huge: the one I checked is 4592px wide, resolution 350dpi. There’s no point uploading such files when browsers display them at resolution 72, your theme displays them at maximum 500px wide, and (even if you’re interested in the large-size view you get when clicking on the image rather than the view on the post) most users’ screens are no wider than 1000-1200px wide. You’re simply wasting your storage space and increasing the loading time of your blog pages. For future posts at least, better downsize copies of your images in an image editing application to a resolution of 72 and a reasonable width, and upload those copies.

Sorry for the delay in thanks – this was a great help. Have been working on resizing images before uploading (much quicker) and am finding creating galleries much easier (displaying as thumbnails much better than displaying at different sizes which I was doing before). Probably simple stuff but I’m quite the novice. Cheers for your excellent guidance!
