Displaying links on page.

I’m trying to set up a website that is just for writing resources via links. I’ve separated them into categories, and I have over five hundred that I want to put on my site. So for the past few months, I’ve been trying to organize them into columns that stretch across the page. I’ve tried using the sidebar, which as you can see it goes into one long list. I also tried breaking it up into the footer area, but I can’t seem to get them to appear as I would like. I also started this project three years go way before the new block editor came out. So my question is can you copy and paste the links I have into blocks and have them appear in rows? I know you can move the blocks in the widgets and that might be easier to do. Also, I spent a month playing with themes, to see if any would accommodate my ideas, and so far, I like what I have. (I’m not the most techie person.) I also have watched a bazillion videos to get better at navigating my WordPress site. I also have a wordpress.org site for a different reason. Also, currently in Nebraska, there are no WordPress classes being offered at the local colleges. So I’m frustrated. As to my question, how can I get my links in columns? I don’t want to give up. Also, should I add all the links I want to add before I format my page? Or can I do it afterward? Thank you so much for answering.

  • Hello there,

Happy to help you with this.

It’s totally possible to do this.

I’ve created a “Writing Resources Test” page to show you how this would be done.

    I’ve used the following blocks:

    https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/columns-block/
    https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/heading-block/
https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/list-block/ (by copying and pasting the lists from the footer)

Also, I spent a month playing with themes, to see if any would accommodate my ideas, and so far, I like what I have. (I’m not the most techie person.)

Looking at the content above, ideally you would look to use a theme that offers a full width template:

    https://wordpress.com/themes/filter/full-width-template

    I hope this helps.
