Displaying part of blog with "Read more" button
-
Hi, everyone. I am 100% new to ALL of this. To say I am overwhelmed with all of the options on this site is an understatement. That said, please bear with me if this is a simple question with a simple answer. My question is:
If one visits my blog, he will see the entire first post on the main page. I would like it to only display, say, the first paragraph and then provide a “Read more” button which readers can click and be redirected to the entire post.
Could someone please walk me through setting this function?
My blog’s URL is http://asparkinthenight.wordpress.com/
Thank you!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

It’s the funny double rectangle thingy on the top row of your edit Post page – (searched on “read more” – 2nd entry down in the support docs)

I tried that with no luck because I didn’t know it was called “splitting content”. The site is a bit jumbled visually for my taste (information overload), so it gets overwhelming to sort through the support documents. I will look deeper next time, though. Thanks again!

This is probably a “really” stupid question, but I cannot even figure out how to create a blog! Argh! I’m usually pretty computer literate, but I guess I’m missing something. Any help would be deeply appreciated.
Thank you!

I can’t spell “splitting content” very well so when I want the link that I gave you I search on “more” or “read more” – without the quotes
See also: http://learn.wordpress.com/ for a series of how to do things.
Also many times looking in the forum will show the answer as the read more comes around every couple of days for instance.
Good luck
