Displaying Photos on a Page

  I have a page on which I’d like to post photos in two areas. The first is a series of four photos with captions and text to the side describing the photo.

  The second is a series of photos without text but with captions.

  The problem I have is with the latter display: I am showing the “gallery” of photos, but the “gallery” includes the four photos from section 1. I don’t want these four photos to display twice on the page, but they are.

  Is there a way to prevent these four photos from displaying in the “gallery” and only show them embedded with text?

  Hello,
  Yes there is a way to do this. jsutjennifer supplied the answer in another forum thread.

  Currently, galleries work by including all of the images that are attached to a given post or page. If you upload images while you are editing, those images will automatically get attached.

  So, here’s what you can do:

  Upload images you want to include in the gallery from inside the post while you are editing. Then upload images that you don’t want to include in the gallery from the Media Library > Add New page. Images added that way will be unattached and you can add the unattached images from the Media Library into the content areas of the post without including them in any gallery.

  You can also exclude images from being included in the Gallery by ID number. This has to be done in the HTML editor.

  Try as I might, I cannot exclude the photos from the gallery.

  Do you have any ideas as to who might be able to look over the HTML to make this work?

  Right now I have the page published privately since it isn’t displaying the way it should.

  So, which method of exclusion did you attempt? It’s possible that one has been disabled while the other remains.

  Just to clarify, I only mentioned excluding images via the ID number in the shortcode. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/how-to-exclude-pictures-from-a-gallery?replies=8#post-444695

  designsimply mentioned the option of excluding images by uploading via the Media Library. I believe, though, that once you actually use them in a post, they become attached to that post. Will have to experiment a bit.
