Displaying social media share buttons
-
I can’t find a way to make the social share buttons display in the left panel as shown in the info about the 2015 theme.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Thanks, but that’s to share posts to the social media belonging to the websites owner or organization. I’m looking to add social media buttons for readers to share posts or pages they like to their own social media or email.

I’m not aware of a way to add sharing links to the sidebar. Typically they may be displayed selectively on the homepage, archive pages, search results, posts, pages, projects, and media. See the Sharing support page for relevant information and instructions.

Hi there,
The social media icons you see in the sidebar on https://twentyfifteendemo.wordpress.com/ are not sharing buttons. They’re not a widget, like @musicdoc1 explained above, but rather the social links menu for the site.
The social links widget and the social links menu do the same thing, though: Their purpose is to allow you, the site owner, to provide links to your different social media profiles so that visitors to your site can visit those profiles and follow you there as well.
The only place sharing buttons are displayed on WordPress.com is at the bottom of individual posts and pages, and you can configure which buttons appear at My Site ->Tools ->Marketing ->Sharing Buttons:
