Displaying words or images on the post info

Is there a certain conditional tag to use if I want to display something on a post-info during the blog roll on the home page?
For example, I want to display the word an icon or a word like “THIS” on meta info (maybe beside the author name) if the post was categorized under “Lifestyle.”
If it was a different category, then it would display a different word (NOT replacing the category name) and so on so forth. I just want it to appear.

Okay check out my website, http://thehue.ca/Click any post and scroll to the bottom of the post where it shows the post info (author, date, time, category, tags, etc.)
Around there I also want to display a word anywhere there depending on what category it is. Better yet, maybe an Icon I’ll make. I don’t want to replace the category link but I specifically want to call out something to show my icon when it’s a certain category.
