displaying www in the url

    Hi there,
    i created the website uptoevent.fr with wordpress.com
    the person i created it for would like to have the url displayed as http://www.uptoevent.fr
    i read in the documentation the wordpress automatically deletes the www from urls.

    is it possible to modify the domain settings so that the www appear anyway ?

    No it is not possible nor is it necessary.

    WordPress.com actually strips out the www. for your convenience, and all URLs containing the “www” will always seamleassly redirect to the same content under the same URL without the “www”.

    www is an old protocol from back when world wide web was created and everything was under separate server hardware. www (www.example.com) was the web server, mail (mail.example.com) was the mail server, ftp (ftp.example.com) was the FTP server, print (print.example.com) was the print server, etc.

    These days, everything is run under the web server, making www. redundant and a waste of four characters.
