Distinct themed areas within your blog

    Hi there,

    It was recommended I post this question in this forum. Long shot this one but worth asking all the same. I have a long-running blog and an associated Twitter account, both having the same name and look and feel etc.

    I also run a separate Twitter account covering a slightly different subject matter from my main account where I post mainly photographs. I’d like to be able to collect up a lot of these previously tweeted images within a blog setting and I’d ideally like to do it under the umbrella of my main BTLM blog. The reason for this is to encourage visits to the site in general and so I don’t have to run a different blog with the costs associated with it when I spend money on upgrades for my main one already.

    Now obviously I can create new pages and new headers for this within my existing menu structure, but I was wondering if I could change the look and feel, colours, fonts etc. just for this new section rather than for the whole blog. I’d like to give it the same character as its Twitter account which is stylistically different from my main account.

    Hope that’s all clearly explained!

    Thanks,

    C.

    Hi there!

    I think it’s possible to do that on the new section you’re referring to using CSS. You’ll need the custom design upgrade for that.

    Here are some helpful articles on that:

    You can target specific pages by using one of the unique CSS body classes (found in the opening HTML body tag for that page. As an example, the following CSS would turn the green background on your Elevens category page to red while leaving all other category and other pages and posts with the green background color.

    body.category-elevens.custom-background {
    background-color: red;
    }

    So yes, it is possible, and most everything else on individual pages can be styled separately by using some of the unique body CSS classes to target them.
