Distraction free writing

What have you done now? The distraction free writing aspect had a quick and convenient “save” button. It’s gone, and other goofy aspects have appeared. Oh, please leave well enough alone. And the Beep Boop thing will be ignored by me till you have made it the only option, which you will. The old editor is better, and it’s not because I am used to it. It’s simply better.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Pleas do not keep posting this over and over again into thread after thread. I provided directions on how to create posts in the classic editor here: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/where-is-classic-mode?replies=8#post-2084521

Hi @patzmich,
We’ve updated the distraction free writing feature in the classic Dashboard. Now, when you are in distraction-free writing mode, whenever you type within the editor, the sidebars of your Dashboard will fade out. But when you mouse around or click outside of the editor, those options come right back.
This way, you don’t have to click in and out of the full-screen editor in order to do anything. There’s no longer a need for a Save button in the distraction-free writing editor, because the Save Draft button is right there outside it still.
Let me know if you have further questions!

Eurello: The save button on the distraction-free writing editor was waaaaay faster than the draft button. It cut my writing-previewing time significantly. Now I’m back to the more ponderous draft button exclusively. Not a step in the right direction. I really think you folks need to leave things alone if they’re not broken. Change is not always a good thing.
But thanks for the reply.

I really don’t understand why the “distraction free” mode is including more and more distractions.
It was almost perfect in the classic editor. This was the only reason for me not to switch to the new editor. But now you have also modified the behavior in the classic one… Come on!
I am afraid I already know the answer, but… are there any workarounds to keep “distraction free mode” honoring its name?

Alas, Luis, what we have here is a group of people with time on their hands. So they say, let’s “improve” the WP editor, and they get to work changing things that do not need to be changed. Sometimes it’s better. Often, it is not. Often, it is distinctly not. They need to sit on their hands, and leave well enough alone. The phrase “justifying their jobs” springs to mind.

Please place an option into my wordpress dashboard so I can permanently turn of beep beep boop. It sucks. And not timethief, the problem is very obviously not solved. Whenever I edit an existing post on my blog, I am back in these horror movie triple boobs.

Hi, my problem:
in the old DFW the pictures and the text were displayed similar to the look of the actual posting. Now, the sidebars fade out, but the arrangement of photos and text stay the same. That means: the pictures on the left side, the text on the right side. thats much more complicated for editing. Can I change to the old DFW – modus? -

Hi Barbara,
Hmm, I took a look at your blog, and it looks like your images are mostly left-aligned, which means they should appear to the left, and your text wrap around the right. But because your images are so large and your blog column is a bit narrower, they’re appearing on your site as if they are centered.
Instead, I recommend center-aligning your images:
Image AlignmentThat way, the editor will match what you see on the blog, and you won’t have any problems in future with the images appearing more left-aligned if you change your blog layout or theme.

Brechbuehl: Would that they would. I still use the old editor, which works fine, but I wonder how much time it has left.
