Distraction free writing.

Distraction free writing used to remove the distractions PLUS enlarge the area dedicated to composition. As of a few days ago I find that all toggling the button does is remove the distractions while keeping the writing area the same. Is this something I’ve done or is this something WordPress has changed for my convenience? Is this temporary? I liked a larger area to write in. What’s up? Does anyone know? Is it possible to revert to the old system? D

Howdy,
First of all, no, it’s not temporary and it’s not something you’ve done.WordPress.com has released a iteration to the WordPress Distraction Free Writing feature which, as you’ve found, simplifies the DFW functionality and yet provides the same functionality.
The width of the editor should not have changed – the old DFW width was closely tied with the standard editor width, however it’s height was far greater. The new DFW editor will expand the height in response to your typing, which provides a similar experience to the old DFW editor – Simply add a bunch of new paragraphs to test it and scroll.
Understandably, the new DFW experience may not feel the same, but hopefully you’ll find yourself being as productive and closer to the other editor tools than before.
Additionally, the new editor at https://wordpress.com/post/ has a different full screen editing functionality which might suit you better.

Thanks much for your thorough response … just wanted to be sure it wasn’t something that I was doing.
Would appreciate an editing window however, that was fulll screen width … I like lots of room! I know it’s impossible to satisfy everyone. You can tell everyone there at WP that I am a totally satisfied blogger … and have been every since I’ve signed on.
Thanks for the informative reply.
