Distraction Free Writing Shortcuts and Safari on Mac (Mavericks)
-
Hello,
I have a question that I could not find answered despite extensive research. It’s about the Distraction Free Writing mode and its powerful shortcuts. They work beautifully in Firefox on my Mac, but my main browser is Safari. And when I press CMD+3 (to turn selected text into a H3 for example) Safari appears to open a shortcut of a bookmark.
I’ve tried everything, including deleting all my bookmarks – but there’s still no way I can make it work. What am I doing wrong? Is there anything you can suggest (besides “use a different browser”, “buy a PC” or “don’t use the distraction free writing mode”)?
Thanks ;-)

wpguru.co.uk id not hosted by WordPress.com and neither is the blog at versluis.com linked to your username. You are posting to the wrong support forums. We provide support only for blogs being hosted WordPress.COM and not for WordPress.ORG software installs.
If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there and receive advice from WordPress.ORG bloggers.

Thanks timethief,
I have the same problem on blogs hosted on WordPress.com and sadly there was no way to change my post as soon as I hit return. Sorry about the confusion. Hosted on WordPress.com and associated with my user name are:

Hi there Jay!
The problems you are having are specific to the Safari browser. When you press CMD+1-9 on Safari, website links on your Favorites bar are opened. The numbers correspond to how they are arranged in your Favorites.
You might have some luck installing the SafariTabSwitching plugin to change this behavior:

Let me know how that works for you. Thanks!
