DIV tags within posts?
-
Hello everyone.
I am relatively new to wordpress and to CSS in general. I would like to use DIV tags within wordpress posts as I know they are a powerful structural element. However, it seems as if the editor deletes them right out of the code section! Is it then not possible to use DIV tags?
Thanks!

The difficulty here is as the OP describes. We can not add divs. Adding another p is hopeless. Obviously.

By using the forum searchbox we find that this is a long standing and known “bug”. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=11555

The good news is that this bug has been fixed https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=14547

I have been trying to use div tags to create a two column look for one of my pages, but they are constantly stripped out. I am trying to use a div tag styled with a width and float.

mymyspacelayouts – I did close the tag. I find the editor changes my div tag to p tags. I am confused.
kimik0 – It would work, but I want to avoid tables as much as I can to stay W3C compliant.
Anyone else have thoughts? I will post the code I am trying to use in a moment

Post teh code between backticks, otherwise it gets messed up. Backticks are the apostrophe like marks on the same key as ~

I’ve tested it out, but the program still strips out the div tags and replaces them by p tags? The only way around it is to disable the Rich Text editor, which I find useful….

I got p tags when I tried putting the codes of my Myspace layouts on my blog. It stripped the style and css codes. So I now put all the codes in a text file and upload them through WordPress.
