  Do I need to purchase Divi from a third-party source in order to build my WordPress website with it?

  That is correct. In order to use Divi on WordPress.com, you will need to purchase it from a 3rd party and also have a WordPress.com plan that allows the use of Plugins and uploaded Themes:

  The Business plan is probably going to be what you are looking for, though the eCommerce plan would also work.
