Dividing a blog
-
I want to divide my blog: one poetry, one essays. How can I transfer selected posts from one blog to a new one? Do I have to delete from one and re-enter to new?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Alice,
You can use the Tools->Export option on your current site and select only posts matching a particular category.
If you don’t already have all of the posts you’d like to move in a particular category:
If you haven’t already, create a category for all of the posts you’d like to move to a new site. You can create the category at https://alicebarrett.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit-tags.php?taxonomy=categoryThen visit your Posts page at https://alicebarrett.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php . Click the checkbox next to the ones you’d like to add to the category to take over the new blog, then click Bulk Actions at the top, then the Edit option and click the Apply button.
On the section that opens, you can choose the new category by checking the checkbox next to it, then clicking Update.
Once they’re in the same category, visit the Tools->Export page at https://alicebarrett.wordpress.com/wp-admin/export.php?type=export
Choose the posts box, then the category that you’re using. Click Download Export File.
On your new blog, go to Tools->Import, choose WordPress, and select the file that you downloaded. Your posts will be in your new blog.
Once you’ve verified that the posts are there, visit your old blog’s category page at https://alicebarrett.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit-tags.php?taxonomy=category and click the number of posts next to the category that you picked. That’ll give you a list of all posts in that category.
You can check the checkbox at the top (next to Bulk Actions) to select all, then click Bulk Actions, and click Delete to remove from the original blog.
I hope that helps. If you have any questions, please let me know. Cheers!
