    Hi,

I recently added two DNS locations (did it this morning). When I did that, my site no longer opened when i typed in the URL. What do I do.

That site is not on our WordPress.COM servers. You are posting to the wrong support forum.

WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, support docs and support forums, and many people get confused about the two.

The wordpress.ORG login link is here https://login.wordpress.org/ If you do not have an account yet then click Create an account https://login.wordpress.org/register/ and if you have lost an account password click Lost password? https://login.wordpress.org/lostpassword/

This is wordpress.COM support. We provide support only for wordpress.COM hosted sites. Our support docs do not apply to
    (1) local installs of wordpress.ORG software on your own server or
    (2) wordpress.ORG software installs on paid hosting, and we do not provide support for them at wordpress.COM.

Also, note that we do not provide Jetpack support https://jetpack.com/support/ for sites linked to wordpress.COM accounts with the Jetpack plugin so they display on the My Sites wordpress.com account page.

Some Jetpack solutions are here http://jetpack.com/support/

Others are in the Jetpack support forum at WordPress.org
    http://wordpress.org/support/plugin/jetpack

However, if help cannot be found at either one then they can file a Jetpack support ticket here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/?jetpack=needs-service

WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

WordPress.org support docs are at https://codex.wordpress.org/Main_Page
See also https://apps.wordpress.org/support/ for app support.

I’m confused. I reached this forum via wordpress.com. My site is hosted by wordpress.com. Do I still have to go to wordpress.org?

That is my problem. I don’t want it hosted by Square. I thought I was getting access to my Square account via the DNS change. Now I can’t find my page on WordPress and I don’t know how to recover it. :( I will subscribe.

    thank you

    Hello –

I’m happy to help get this sorted out.

flippinsweet.live is not connected to your user account. Is this the domain you need help with?

I’ll need to sign in to the other account and post back here so I can verify that you have access to it.

Yes. I am trying to get the Square pay portal added to a page. When I was connecting it to Square, it asked me to change the DNS. It was then that my page stopped working.

I need to be able to have my page back and connect to Square. I’m a novice and this may be too much for me to take on.

    thanks,
    juliet

    Hi again –

The site is not connected to your user account that you are posting from here in the forums. The first step in working on the site is to get signed in correctly.

Can you share a link to the instructions that you were following?

To make sure I understand, it sounds like you are trying to add a payment collector? With WordPress.com hosted sites you can use a PayPal button.

Here’s how you set that up: https://en.support.wordpress.com/paypal/

The non-profit that I represent selected Square. I just want to see my web site again. I don’t know what the original IP address was and I don’t know how to get back to it.

Here is what they say to do:

    Connect a Third-Party Domain

You can configure a third-party, custom domain (e.g., noahspizza.net) or a subdomain (e.g., store.noahspizza.net) to point to your Square Online Store. If you do this, your Online Store will replace any content currently shown at that address.

Although you can’t register domains or subdomains directly through Square at this time (you’ll need to sign up with a domain provider such as Google, 1and1.com, Bluehost, GoDaddy, etc) you can choose to purchase a domain from Google via your Square Dashboard.

In order to use your third-party domain for your Online Store, you’ll need to edit your DNS records. Contact your domain provider for instructions on how to do this.

Note:If you purchase a domain through Google via your Dashboard, you do not need to edit your DNS records.

Once you access the DNS record, make a configuration change. The format of your existing domain or domain type will determine the configuration changes. Reference the table below to see what changes to make.

    Domain Configuration
    Naked Domain
A naked domain doesn’t include www or other prefixes
Your URL would look like “mywebsite.com”, NOT “www.mywebsite.com Point two A Records to: 74.122.190.86 and 74.122.189.137
The host for the record should be @
If you can only add one A Record, use the first IP
    Subdomain
    A subdomain includes a prefix
Your URL would look like “www.mywebsite.com” or “shop.mywebsite.com” Point CNAME Record to: store.squareup.com
The host for the record should be the subdomain prefix. e.g. www or store
After you’ve made these changes through your domain provider, do the following:

    Visit your online Square Dashboard.
Toggle on “Use a custom domain you own” and enter your third-party, site address. Note: The domain shouldn’t include http:// or any trailing slashes or paths. Or click “Purchase a new domain” and go through the purchase flow.
Click Test to verify that your domain is valid and properly configured.
    Click Save.
It can take up to 24-72 hours for Square to see the changes you’ve made.
