DNS

I would like to disable the DNS for Mascobox.com because I decided to change from WordPress.com to WordPress.org.

    Thanks

  • You can point the domain you registered at WordPress.com to another server (hosting service), with these steps:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/change-name-servers/

You’ll need to obtain the name server values from your current host. You should be able to find them on their support documentation, or contact them and ask for the information. (Name servers may be referred as “nameservers” or “NS records” instead.)

If I have misunderstood you and you are actually trying to do something different with your DNS settings, please let me know and I will be happy to help!

We didn’t register the domain with wordpress. The problem is that we contract your service to map a domain name and now we want to cancel it. I think we couldn’t do it ourselves, isn’t it?

    Thanks

  • I understand. I have now done that for you. Domain mapping for Mascobox.com has been canceled.

Ok, Domain mapping for Mascobox.com has been canceled in direct2pet.wordpress.com but we have a problem with DNS propagation of mascobox.com. Review http://www.intodns.com/mascobox.com and you can see that:

FAIL: The following nameservers are listed at your nameservers as nameservers for your domain, but are not listed at the parent nameservers (see RFC2181 5.4.1). You need to make sure that these nameservers are working. If they are not working ok, you may have problems!
    ns3.wordpress.com

We have configured our domain pointing to our new wordpress.org by using own name servers (ns0.directnic.com, ns1.directnic.com) but 72 hours after continue to appear in conjunction with “ns3.wordpress.com”. it can cause odd behaviour including some people not being able to access our domain.

  • I’m sorry to say that I cannot help you with DNS issues as Mascobox.com is registered with http://www.directnic.com and not with WordPress.com. You might see about contacting their support team.

I know that we have not registered Mascobox.com with WordPress but when I look at the DNS, it appears two from Directnic (and it is Ok because we changed them) but three from WordPress (that we think it causes the problem):
    ns1.wordpress.com
    ns2.wordpress.com
    ns3.wordpress.com
So we did the change including the DNS from Directnic but although you canceled the DNS mapping, I don’t know why we keep on having the WordPress DNS. Any idea?

    Thanks,

  • Nameservers are changed/edited completely on the registrar side of things. It looks to me like somehow the new nameservers were added on as additional “backup” nameservers rather than replacing the existing nameservers. I would try to update them again through http://www.directnic.com/ and see if that makes a difference. If it does not, contact the http://www.directnic.com/ and explain the situation.

I’m sorry I can’t help more, but we can only adjust nameservers on domains that are registered through us.
