Hi I am trying to get my blog to have my http://www.echoplace.com name. My host company have requested that I get the A record for my blog from you guys, and have asked that I ask “What dns changes need to occur to redirect the web traffic to wordpress site”
Blog url: http://echoplace.wordpress.com/ -
Howdy,
In order to map your domain to a WordPress.com site, you’ll need to change your name servers to:
ns1.wordpress.com
ns2.wordpress.com
ns3.wordpress.comThen follow these instructions:

Thanks for you reply however,
I do not wish to use your name servers, because I dont want you to manage my email etc, I have have a host company that are doing this for me. what A records or what C Name records are needed to be changed to allow this.thanks

We cannot support domain mapping via any method other than nameserver change.
Once you have changed your namservers, you can direct the email back to your current email provider by entering their MX records in the Custom DNS panel: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/custom-dns/

Hi,
I got my hosting company to install wordpress into my host account, the web address is now active echoplace.com. Is it possible to provide me with a backup of my current http://echoplace.wordpress.com/ database and export this? I would then be able to import the data base into my hosting account and problem would be sorted.
thanks for your help,
Colin

You can transfer your content from echo place.wordpress.com to your self-hosted site by following this guide:
