DNS A record
-
Hello friendly support!
I recently purchased hosting with GoDaddy for my WordPress domain, http://www.fiftytwonineteen.com and I have had some issues transferring the hosting over to them. I followed directions I found on both websites to update the DNS A record and waited over 48 hours, about 4 days to be exact, but my website has been down since making this change. According to GoDaddy’s support team, I need to contact you guys to update this record. My DNS A record should be updated to: 184.168.47.225
How do I change my DNS a record to work with GoDaddy? I would love to get me website back up and running ASAP.The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there!
It looks like you’ve successfully changed the name servers on your domain to GoDaddy as shown here:
http://www.who.is/whois/fiftytwonineteen.com
The domain isn’t displaying your WordPress.com site on my side anymore. It’s displaying a “domain parked” page. Can you confirm that the domain is setup correctly at GoDaddy?
Also, if you’re going to be hosting your site at GoDaddy, you won’t need the Premium bundle that is on your account. Would you like me to remove the Premium bundle and keep your domain intact?

Well if I won’t be needing it, as long as it doesn’t mess with my domain name I’m fine removing it. I just contacted GoDaddy support about an hour ago and they said everything is fine on their end and that I needed to change my DNS A record through wordpress support.

Hi!
I went ahead and removed the Premium bundle and refunded you a total of $81 ($99 – cost of the domain registration).
Typically, when mapping a domain to a new host, you only need to change the name servers. However, if GoDaddy is indicating otherwise, you can change the A record on your domain following the instructions here:
In order for the A record set following the instructions above to work, you’ll need to set your domain name servers back to WordPress.com. You can do this through Dashboard -> Store -> My Domains -> Edit Domain -> Name Servers -> “User WordPress.com Name Servers” -> Save Changes.
Please let me know if you run into any trouble!

Hey Jeremy, It looks like the site is still down. I set my domain name servers back to wordpress. Any more suggestions? This headache has been going on for a few weeks now and every time I make a change it takes 48 hours to take into effect so I have to wait 2 days to find out if it even worked or not and so far, nothing has worked.

Hi there,
I made a small adjustment adding a CNAME record to your domain that basically allows the www version of the domain to function correctly. The important point is that the domain is now loading your self-hosted site when I visit it in my browser. Can you give it a try on your side?
Just a note, in order for this to work, you may need to clear your browser cache as explained here:
This prevents your browser from displaying a previously-saved version of your site.
Let me know if you have any additional trouble!
