DNS does not update after cancellation

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi folks, I cancelled my paid domain forwarding option last monday and removed all DNS entries. My domain is not registered through wordpress but four days later the nameservers of wordpress.com still have an entry for my domain sg-urbich.de. Do you have any idea if and how I can speed up the update of these nameservers?

    Hi there,

Looks like the nameservers for sg-urbich.de have changed:

    Domain: sg-urbich.de
    Nserver: ns1.hans.hosteurope.de
    Nserver: ns2.hans.hosteurope.de

And I can see the website is running a WordPress.org self-hosted site.

Let us know if you need more help on this.

    Hi joachimfromm,

As @ mentioned, the name servers for your domain are no longer pointing to WordPress.com. DNS can take up to 48 hours to fully update once they’ve been changed, so this is likely to be the reason your domain wasn’t behaving as expected.

The name servers for sg-urbich.de are currently pointing to hans.hosteurope.de. If you are still seeing the old site on that domain, please try clearing your browser cache using these steps:

    I hope this helps.

    Hi gemmacevans,

I know that DNS changes may take up to 48 hours. But I can not explain myself, why the nameservers of Attomic still point to wordpress.com. I youst got this result for a lookup on https://manytools.org/network/query-dns-records-online/

    “A” DNS records for sg-urbich.de using ns1.wordpress.com:

    sg-urbich.de. 300 IN A 192.0.78.25
    sg-urbich.de. 300 IN A 192.0.78.2
