DNS domain mapping
-
Hi WordPress!
I want to use my newly purchased domain “mba.academy” to a WordPress blog (I haven’t made yet).
– The seller of the domain says I need to send them DNS records. Where do I find those?
– The seller also says that webhosts are free everywhere, but when I go to a WordPress blog, type in “mba.academy” and click “Yes, it’s my domain” – then I get a $13 price. Are the seller (uniteddomains.com) simply just wrong in their statement?
Thank you.

Hi there!
The seller of the domain says I need to send them DNS records. Where do I find those?
In order to map your domain to you WordPress.com site, you’ll need to change the nameservers to the following:
NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
NS3.WORDPRESS.COMIf you don’t know how to do this, you’ll need to contact your registrar for assistance.
The seller also says that webhosts are free everywhere, but when I go to a WordPress blog, type in “mba.academy” and click “Yes, it’s my domain” – then I get a $13 price. Are the seller (uniteddomains.com) simply just wrong in their statement?
Hmm. This isn’t exactly. The cost of web hosting will depend on your host. Here at WordPress.com, hosting is completely free! However, in order to map an existing domain to your WordPress.com site, you need the Domain Mapping upgrade, which costs $13. This is what will connect your domain to your specific site.
You can read more about the upgrade here:
Does that clear things up? Let me know if I can answer any other questions for you!
