DNS/Hosting

Need help connecting a WordPress site we had built by a 3rd party to a domain I bought on google.
I believe I need DNS records to give to google domains so they can connect the domain to the hosting site so WordPress can install their software on the domain

    I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

  • I don’t see any WordPress.com sites under your account here.

What is the URL of the site you’re trying to connect to your Google domain?

NOTE: We can only assist with websites hosted here at WordPress.com. If you’re using the WordPress software, but hosted elsewhere, you will need to reach out to your hosting provider or the WordPress.org community for guidance: https://wordpress.org/support/

Your site is not hosted with WordPress.com but instead a site using the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org) but hosted elsewhere.

We cannot access files or data for sites that are hosted elsewhere, so WordPress.com staff can only assist with sites that are hosted on our servers. But, I can get you pointed in the right direction.

You need to get the nameserver information for the site you had built and whatever the server that’s hosting your site requires for pointing a domain to your WordPress site, that’s what you’ll need to update on Google’s end. There’s nothing to “install” on the domain – you just need to update your site to use that domain instead of the temporary domain you provided.

Reach out to the third party who built your site if you’re not sure.

If you still have trouble, please reach out to the WordPress community for guidance:
