DNS Hosting ETC
-
Hi,
I’m having trouble changing my DNS records so they work with wordpress, I’m registered with Parallels. Do you know where to update the records in Parallels so I can start creating my blog/website?
Cheers

Howdy,
What domain are you referring to?
If you’ve purchased the domain mapping, you’ll need to make sure the name servers of the domain are pointing to:
NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
NS3.WORDPRESS.COMYou can update those at the domain registrar where the domain is managed.
You can also see more details about mapping an existing domain on this support page:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/
Let me know if you have any other questions! :-)

Cheers,
I registered vanillidolls.com.au with domainnames.com.au so are they my domain registrar where the domain is registered?
Thanks

Ok, I have logged into domainnames.com.au and clicked on domain manager, it lists – Standard Host Names and Custom Host Names, do I add NS1.WORDPRESS.COM in there?
Cheers.

Yes, that’s correct.

If it says name servers somewhere on that page, then yes — you would enter the three WordPress.com name servers.

Thanks for your reply.
I’m really lost, is it easier to cancel my hosting and start again with an easier host?
It will not let me access DNS Servers it says the following – “DNS Servers are Not Available with DNS Hosted domains”. ?Cheers.

We can’t actually register .com.au domains at WordPress.com, so you’ll still need to register the domain name elsewhere and map it here following this guide: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/
At this point, I recommend contacting the old registrar to see if they can recover the domain, then ask them why they won’t allow you to change your nameservers.
