DNS Mapping in WordPress to verify my domain with Office 365
-
Greetings,
I’m using Microsoft Office 365 and would like to use my domain with it, but first Office 365 must verify that I own the domain name. To do this, I need to create a TXT or an MX record for my domain. Because you are my DNS hosting provider, could you please create the record for me? The record needs to include the information shown in the table below.Note: You only have to create one of the records and you can choose which one to create.
Record type (choose one)
Alias or Hostname
Destination or Points to Address
TTL
TXT @ or jolynnraymond.com MS=ms68729353 1 Hour
MX @ or jolynnraymond.com ms68729353.msv1.invalid.outlook.com 1 Hour -
Hi there, the format for the Office 365 verification record would need to look like this (if using the TXT record method):
TXT MS=ms68729353
I’ve saved the above record in your custom DNS settings. You should be able to verify your domain now with Office 365 but if you have any further problems please reply back and let me know.
There are additional records often used for Office 365 features which I’ve also saved into your custom DNS settings, as follows:
MX 0 jolynnraymond-com.mail.eo.outlook.com.
CNAME autodiscover autodiscover.outlook.com.
CNAME lyncdiscover webdir.online.lync.com.
CNAME sip sipdir.online.lync.com.
SRV _sip._tls 100 1 443 sipdir.online.lync.com.
SRV _sipfederationtls._tcp 100 1 5061 sipfed.online.lync.com.
The values above are defaults, however — it’s possible that you may have different preferred values for your Office 365 account. This page on their site explains how to find the preferred DNS record values to use with your own account:

If you need any further changes and you get stuck, please just reply back and I’ll be happy to help. :-)

It won’t cooperate with this for my custom email in Office 365. It’s telling me that the 0 should be a number, and something else. Everything else it updated that you did, and I thank you for that.
Jolynn
Sorry, your domain’s DNS records aren’t updated yet.
Sometimes DNS changes can take up to 72 hours. If you’ve already made the following updates, wait a little while and then try checking again. We couldn’t find the following records at your DNS hosting provider.
The DNS settings for Exchange are not configured correctly. Add the records below to the DNS settings at your domain registrar.

Host name
Points to address

MX 0 @ jolynnraymond-com.mail.protection.outlook.com 1 Hour

Hi Jolynn,
It looks like from that message they want your MX record value to be:
MX 0 jolynnraymond-com.mail.protection.outlook.com
rather than the default I saved before which was:
MX 0 jolynnraymond-com.mail.eo.outlook.com.
I believe the value of “0” is correct as that is a valid priority value for MX records and in the message you quoted it appears they’re directing you to use a zero there.
I’ve saved the updated record, but it still may take a few hours before your mail begins working :-)
Please do reply and let me know if you have any further problems. Sometimes pasting in an error message doesn’t save codes correctly so that I can view the entire message. If you continue to see an error on your end can you try making a screenshot and uploading it to your media library for me to check out?
Here’s how to make a screenshot:
