DNS needs to be updated?

    Hi,

I upgraded my WP-account to Premium in September 2013. Mainly because I wanted to try to have my own domain and also se what I could do with the premium version.

Since then I haven’t got much time at all for blogging… so when my domain expired this September I didn’t get it so much thought… I just thought it would go back to the free version…

But since I have a lot of stuff on my blog and now I want to try to find som time to update it again – I really would like to solve this problem because now I just see a black veil over my blog saying that my domain has expired…

I have tried to change so that alaemmeli.wordpress.com is my primary blog again instead of the domain alaemmeli.com. but it doesn’t change anything.

I guess it has something to do with the DNS? But I can’t figure it out – what that means or how to go back.

I would be so grateful if you please could help me with this.

Thank you so much in advance!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

It’s not the DNS that triggers that overlay message. I think that message was designed to try to help people who accidentally lose access to their domain when they don’t mean to. It errs on the side of protecting domain ownership as a first priority.

When you see the overlay message about the domain having expired, do you see a light gray button that says “cancel this domain” in the middle right?

Letting alaemmeli.com completely expire means that you might not be able to get ownership of it again if someone else registers it. Domain expirations take a bit of time to expire and can be tricky because of that. Can you confirm that your end goal is to give up your ownership of the alaemmeli.com domain completely? I just want to make 100% sure. :)

Last note: it might help you to know that anyone not logged in to WordPress.com won’t see the overlay message (in case that brings a little peace of mind). You should be able to edit and update normally in the dashboard separate from the domain message, so that shouldn’t stop you from writing or updating while I help you get the domain issue sorted out.

    Hi designsimply,

Thank you so much for your quick response.

When I try to click on “cancel this domain” it say’s: You cannot cancel this domain because it was not registered with WordPress.com. Please contact support.

It’s weird because I just upgraded to premium and haven’t had anyone else involved (as I know of).

Yes I confirm that my end goal is to give up ownership of the alaemmeli.com domain. I would be very grateful to you if you could help me sort this out. :)

Thank you so much for telling me that anyone that isn’t logged in to WP can’t see this overlay message. And it’s positive that others can see and read my blog as usual.

I’m looking forward to further contact on this matter.

    Thank you!
    Emmeli

Thanks for taking the time to confirm you wanted to completely give up ownership of the alaemmeli.com domain. I was able to manually remove it from your account for you, and that should solve the problem with the overlay.
