DNS NEEDS TO BE UPDATED

  Please help. On Jan. 30 I purchased to domain name “VodkaCalling” from wordpress. I had imported my VodkaCalling blog from blogger, as the domanin name over there was about to expire.

  I have my receipt that I paid for VodkaCalling. My blog from blogger is expired. All I am not trying to do is get WordPress to show my VodkaCalling name, but when I try it says DNS NEEDS TO BE UPDATED, and I have no idea on how to do that? Can anyone help?

  Hello:

  I have similar problems, and I read previous posts there is a way to fix it (pay $$$). Please let me know how to get this resolved.

  It looks like the domain uawmcc.com has not been registered. You can register and associate it with your blog from your domain management screen. https://uawmcc.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=domains

  In order to map to a domain one must have an underlying .wordpress.com subdomain blog to map from, and the domain name you desire must be available for purchase, or you must already own the domain URL.

  You must be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard at > Store > My Upgrades to purchase upgrades for the blog.

  See here if you do not own a domain http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/

  After you do the primary blog set up it can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.

  hello:

  thanks for your email. I followed your instruction, and picked the path of register a new domain (since I don’t own it and willing to pay for it).

  Now it says “The domain name you entered is already mapped to a WordPress.com blog.” I know it is mapped to my own blog, because I paid $13 for the mapping.

  It seems like I may have done it backward. I should have registered it first then map it.

  Please let me know what should I do.

  Can you clarify this for me just so I can be sure we’re talking about the same issue?

  You meant to register uawmcc.com but you actually purchased domain maping for it? And now, when you try to go back and register it again, you are getting the error message. Is that correct?

  yes.

  The message is:

  “The domain name you entered is already mapped to a WordPress.com blog”

  Do I have to “un-map” it, then register uawmcc.com again?

  thanks very much, it works now!!!

  I have one more question. I am currently on a trial premium plan, and I very much like to pay for the whole thing. But since I paid for $13 for mapping. Would wordpress minus that amount from the total of $99? or I just have to pay the whole thing.

  Hmm, you should not have been charged for that.

  I’ve refunded the $13. So you should be good to go.
