DNS needs to be updated
-
Hi – I have a red bar that says my DNS needs to be updated but there’s no way to click on it. I don’t know what I need to do. Thank you.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

That message is telling you that you have a domain mapping subscription, but your domain isn’t pointing to your WordPress.com site. You have two different, but very similar looking sites. One hosted at WordPress.com https://orangegroveconsulting.wordpress.com/ and one hosted at GoDaddy http://www.orangegroveconsulting.com/.
If the “real” site is the one hosted here, we should point your custom domain to your WordPress.com site–which is what domain mapping is for. If the site hosted at GoDaddy is the more current one, we should remove and refund your premium plan on WordPress.com as you don’t need it any more.
Let me know which site you plan to use going forward and I can help you get straightened out.

Hi – we use the godaddy so that people can just type in the orangegroveconsulting.com as the url rather than the wordpress. We want the wordpress to be hidden. Does this help answer your question? Thank you!

We want the wordpress to be hidden. Does this help answer your question?
Not exactly. It’s possible to point your domain orangegroveconsulting.com to your WordPress.com site so that the .wordpress.com part doesn’t show, but that’s not how you have things set up.
Instead of having your domain name pointed to your WordPress.com site, you have duplicate content hosted on GoDaddy and have your domain name pointed there. That’s no problem so long as you plan to make all your updates on that site. If you make changes on your http://orangegroveconsulting.wordpress.com/ site they won’t automatically happen on orangegroveconsulting.com because of the way you have things set up.
Do you have someone working with you on your Website, or do you make changes yourself?

Very interesting. That explains some problems we’ve been having. No we’re doing it ourselves. Can you help? We’d like to make all the changes on wordpress and just have the domain itself on godaddy (all our domains are there so it’s easier). This is how we’ve done it for our other sites. What needs to be done? Many thanks!
-
I take that back – please don’t make any changes. we are hosting it on godaddy so we can run a special program we’ve created.

Thanks for clarifying. In that case, be sure to go to orangegroveconsulting.com/wp-admin to make changes and you’ll avoid confusion.
You’ve also paid for a WordPress.com Premium upgrade on the version of the site you have hosted here. Since you aren’t using the version of your site that is hosted here, you don’t need the upgrade. I’m happy to remove it and refund your payment. That may change the look of the site you have hosted here, but since you aren’t using it at the moment, that might be a bonus–it would make it easier to tell the sites apart.
Let me know if you want me to cancel and refund the upgrade and I’ll take care of it.

I’ve issued a full refund for your Premium bundle and removed all upgrades from your account. You can see a receipt for the refund here:

The funds should be available on your bank account within the next several days!
