DNS needs to be updated DS

  Hey Guys,

  i just noticed my website is down and the message “DNS needs to be updated” is showing up when i look at the manage page.

  What does this mean and what do i have to do to get my site back in the air?

  My Premium package is valid till may 10 2016 and my domain till may 5 2016.

  Although dutchstance.com has been registered, it is not using WordPress.com nameservers. If your domain is mapped to a self-hosted site, then your configuration may be fine as currently set up. If you wish to host your site at WordPress.com, you will need to update your nameservers as outlined below.

  We require that your name server configuration include only the following servers or their numeric equivalents:

  NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
  NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
  NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

  Hi Luuk,

  As timethief mentioned, your domain dutchstance.com is not correctly pointed to WordPress.com, which is why you see that error. Please contact your domain registrar to make sure your domain is working properly and is using these name servers (and no others):

  • NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
  • NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
  • NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

  wich DNS do i change?

  when i go to edit DNS.

  Hi Luuk,

  You will need to change your domain’s name servers themselves (not the DNS records for the domain). If you aren’t sure how to do that, your domain registrar can help you with the exact steps to make that change.

  Hi Luuk,

  Your domain is mapped to WordPress.com, so you can use it with your WordPress.com site. However, the domain is not registered at WordPress.com — it is still registered with your domain registrar (where you purchased the domain name). That domain registrar controls your domain’s name servers, which tell your domain where to point.

  I just checked your domain and it is now pointed to your WordPress.com site, so when I visit it I see your site now: http://dutchstance.com/
