Hi there,
It looks like your domain is not pointing to WordPress.com name servers yet:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-helper/?host=unitedblackstudents.ca
Please go to your domain registrar’s site and log into the control panel. You will need to update the name servers as below:
- NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
- NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
- NS3.WORDPRESS.COM
For more information, please visit the help documentation provided by the registrar and our support page:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/
Let me know if you have any questions!

So I think I’ve figured out what exactly my problem is
1st off I’m transitioning from one group to another in terms of managing this website. (I may refer to our group as We)That being the case I wasn’t sure what the current ecosystem was of what page was hosting a domain and which was our registar and so forth.
Right now from what I can gather, our domain expired or is about to expire.
We need to renew it, which I believe we renewed on the 15th of October 2014.
Since the domain expired I think our Registar (GO Daddy) may have reset our DNS.
As at now our website link will not show any of our content.
Im not exactly sure if this is exactly what is going on or what I may be missing some information.
I just have no idea how to navigate the current situation, but your help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Hi there,
I took a look at your most recent nameservers and I see this:
ns1.wordpress.com
ns33.domaincontrol.com
ns34.domaincontrol.com
ns2.wordpress.comCan you please remove the following:
ns33.domaincontrol.com
ns34.domaincontrol.comand add:
ns3.wordpress.com
Then you should be set!
Cheers!

so my name servers are correct now (i think)
but how long before my site is back to its former glory?

Hi there,
It can sometimes take up to 48-72 hours to propagate. Can you let me know if it’s still not up and running tomorrow?
Thank you!
-
so its not fully up and running
but there was an updatecurrently is says this on the link to our website
” You can’t get there from here (site_id mismatch error). This happens when an external blog (a self-hosted blog using the Stats plugin) is pointed to WordPress.com by DNS. If you are trying to migrate away from WordPress.com, please update your DNS to point the domain to your own server. Otherwise please contact WordPress.com support and explain what you were trying to do, what steps you took, what you expected to happen, and what actually happened. It’s probably Andy’s fault. “
why’s that?
and what happens next? Thanks So Much For Your Help

Hi there!
There seems to be some confusion with WordPress.com and the self-hosted WordPress install on WordPress.org.
So currently we are the support team of WordPress.com. To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities. At WordPress.com, we provide hosting, support, and tons of features for blogs. Users also have the option to purchase a variety of upgrades to customize the look and feel of their blog. WordPress.org is a software for self-hosted sites. With WordPress.org, users are provided access to all backend files and can upload custom themes and plugins.
Check here to learn more about the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org:
The WordPress.com site in your account is this one:
http://unitedblackstudents.wordpress.com/
Is that the site you want to map your domain to?
Or do you have another site using the WordPress install hosted with GoDaddy?
I first assumed that you want to map your site to your WordPress.com site, but now I have a feeling you want to point your site to your self-hosted site.
Please let me know and we can clear this up.
Also, I was just wondering, can you walk me through the steps of how you added that Domain Mapping upgrade to your site? That would be very helpful.
Thank you!

The actual domain we want to Map to is
“unitedblackstudents.ca”I think the steps you’re asking me to explain are the ones that got me to this current version of our site.
I went to our Go Daddy account page.
Went to Manage Domains (our domain – Unitedblackstudents.ca)
On the Domain Details page, in the settings box, under Nameservers I changed it to : NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
NS3.WORDPRESS.COM
Under the DNS Zone File tab on our manage Domains page
there is another section for Name Servers. Currently there are two there
Hosts Points To
@ (Informational) ns33.domaincontrol.com (Informational)
@ (Informational) ns34.domaincontrol.com (Informational)These are the only things I changed and now have me to the current situation.
Thanks again for your help

Hi there,
Please note that a domain is not actually where your content lies. A domain name is a name used to identify a particular website on the internet. Your site’s domain name is like your mailing address. Your domain exists independently of your site.
You can find more information about domains here.
So where your actual content lies is with your host. If you are hosting with us, you would have the nameservers set to us at WordPress.com. However, it looks like you want to host with GoDaddy (sorry for the misunderstanding, I just assumed that you wanted to host with us when you came here).
Please update your nameservers to:
ns33.domaincontrol.com
ns34.domaincontrol.comand remove ours. Then contact GoDaddy if you run into any issues.
Thank you!
