  Hi,

  I have a domain name registered with another company I would like to point to my wordpress site. Can you please let me know the relevant DNS records I need so I can update the CNAME please?

  Hello @kosykina,

  You will need an upgraded WordPress.com plan on your site in order to map a domain.

  Once you upgraded, you will be able to add your existing domain to your WordPress.com site.

  Hi there,

  I’m not sure why you want to update the CNAME. You only change the CNAME record if you’re trying to map a subdomain to a site, not if you want to map the domain itself.

  To point a domain to us we recommend changing the domain’s name servers. The name servers should be set to:

  NS1.WORDPRESS.COM

  NS2.WORDPRESS.COM

  NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

  And on this side you will need the domain mapping upgrade, included in all our plans as Rose mentioned above.

  Hi,
  Thank you. Sorry I didn’t mean I wanted to update the CNAME. I need to know what CNAME and A Record the host should point to. The above I believe is the CNAME that I need the host to point to. is that right? How do I get a hold of the A record?

  Help much appreciated. I’m new to all this jargon.

  You can only do that once you upgrade your WordPress.com account – http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

  What is the domain you want to point here, and where is it registered? You shouldn’t need to do anything with a CNAME. You shouldn’t need an A record either, unless your current domain provider doesn’t allow you to change the name servers.

  I bought a domain with wix travelbytummy.co.uk and I want it to point to kinatbt.wordpress.com

  Okay, Wix doesn’t allow you to change the name servers, so you’ll need to add A records instead.

  You will need to add two A-records with these IPs:

  192.0.78.24

  192.0.78.25

  Add both A records to both the root domain and to the www subdomain. Wix support should be able to help you with that if you don’t know what I’m talking about :)
