DNS Records page problem – domain and site redirect management is disabled

  • Unknown's avatar

I need to know if I entered the DNS info correctly for zoho.com to handle email from
(email visible only to moderators and staff).

The first step appeared to go well. I entered the info:

    CNAME zb1 3575480 domain.zoho.com

and it seemed to be connected. I got a validated indication at zoho.com/mail

72 hours ago, I tried sending an email to: (email visible only to moderators and staff) (from (email visible only to moderators and staff)) Nothing has gotten through. So I came back to wordpress to see if maybe I needed to do something else.

When I tried to access my DNS records page and clicked on the link, this message appeared:

Domain and site redirect management is currently disabled. Please try again later.

Did I do something wrong, do I need to do something more? Or is it just still in the process of setting this up? If so, (it’s been 72 hours), when should I check back again?

  • I’m very sorry – our domains area is temporarily unavailable. We hope to have it up and running again soon:

  • This should now be back to normal. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Was able to get back in and have tried a couple of more updates to my DNS records. Still can’t send an email to: (email visible only to moderators and staff)

Here’s the most recent version of my DNS records (saved 1/16/13 at 16:26):

    MX 10 mail1.zoho.com.
    MX 20 mail2.zoho.com.
    TXT v=spf1 include:mail.zoho.com ~all
    CNAME zb13575480 domain.zoho.com.

Here’s wordpress info of a sample set of records (on the DNS page):

    MX 10 MAIL1.EXAMPLE.COM.
    MX 20 MAIL2.EXAMPLE.COM.
    TXT v=spf1 include:mail.example.com ~all
    CNAME autodiscover EXCHANGE.EXAMPLE.COM.

Do I just need to change something in the above info? Or do I need to do something more?

Two other lines of info are in the wordpress example (just below). I didn’t enter anything for these because my ESP made no reference to this info and I don’t know what I should put there.

    A webmail 1.2.3.4
    SRV _xmpp-client._tcp 10 10 5269 example.com.

The failure message I got when I tried to send an email (from a yahoo account) said:

Sorry, we were unable to deliver your message to the following address.

<(email visible only to moderators and staff)>:
No MX or A records for customcreationsinteriors.com

    1. I can see a mention of A records so it looks like something does need to go there. Can you help me with what to enter here?

    2. The message also says no MX records. Is there something else that should be entered here?

Hope you can help me get this the way it needs to be. Thanks.

  • Hi there – have you completed the final verification step as described here?

Are you directing your email to a gmail account? If so, the way that the gmail threading works if you both send and receive an email from gmail you only see the “sent” copy.

for example if xxxATmydomain.com redirect to yyyATgmail.com, and you send an email from yyyATgmail.com to xxxATmydomain.com you will never see the reply coming back (without setting special filters) – even though it is working – gmail collapses the .identical outgoing and incoming email into one!

I thought that my email redirection wasn’t working for a while because of this.

  • Are you directing your email to a gmail account?

    No, they are using Zoho.

    No, they are using Zoho.

You can still forward all your emails to a single gmail account for convenience! It has nice facilities so that you can see emails from all your addresses together but with labels depending on which one they came from.

Thanks for your responses, Tandava and Kathryn. I think I’d like to stick with zoho email.

    Kathrynwp,

My account has been validated. However, the instructions for setting up records at the link you gave me looks slightly different than the instructions given on the DNS page for my web site.

The instructions on my DNS page show this:

    MX 10 mail1.zoho.com.
    MX 20 mail2.zoho.com.

And the instructions at the wordpress link for zoho have this:

    MX 10 mx.zoho.com.
    MX 20 mx2.zoho.com.

So I’ll update and save my records as indicated just above and see if that fixes the problem.

Question: How long do I need to wait before this update takes effect? The zoho page info says a couple of hours. Elsewhere on wp, I think I saw up to 72 hours.

    Thanks for your help.

  • Hi DeAnna – you may want to double-check with Zoho directly about the specific DNS records.

DNS updates (aka “propagation”) can take anywhere from a few yours all the way up to 72 hours in some cases. Let us know how it goes!

    Kathryn,

All systems are go now — thanks!

    DeAnna

P.S. For anyone else with the same problem reading this thread, go to the link (the one Kathryn mentioned above) about zoho email to get the correct version of the MX records to save; what I listed above isn’t correct but what I actually used is the info on the zoho page.

  • So glad to hear everything is working now – thanks for letting us know!
