DNS settings

    Hello,
I have set up my domain to redirect to a different domain I bought, lewpealab.org. Right now, we can access the page by going to http://lewpealab.org. But, if we want a secure HTTP page (https), that expands to https://www.lewpealab.org/. I don’t want the ‘www’ in front of there. Can you look into making it so that our secure URL is “https://lewpealab.org”? I know it has something to do with the host, DNS, and SSL, so I think I need to make a change somewhere in wordpress since you guys are our host.

  • Hi, this does indeed have to do with the host. Can you contact yours? It seems to be hosted through Google.

For the WordPress settings, this may help too:

Then if you need more help, use these forums for WordPress installations:

Or, you’d be welcome to transfer to our services. Let us know if you need help with that!

I contacted google first and they said they were not my host. Is there a way I can figure out who it’s hosted by? I thought it was wordpress because we used wordpress to make changes on it before creating a redirect to our current google domain…

  • Based on the IP address for your domain, it is hosted on Google’s servers:

    https://www.ip-adress.com/ip-address/ipv4/216.239.32.21

Your domain is also using Google’s name servers, which means they’re managing your DNS:

    https://www.whoishostingthis.com/#search=lewpealab.org

And if you do a Whois lookup by entering your domain name at https://lookup.icann.org/lookup, you’ll see it also lists the registrar where your domain is registered as Google.

So everything points to Google being both your domain and your hosting provider. It’s possible the domain is being pointed away from them to another provider, but only they’d be able to tell you where – if your domain is pointed away from them it’s not using the regular method of changing the IP address or name servers, as both of those are pointed to Google’s servers.

I thought it was wordpress because we used wordpress to make changes on it before creating a redirect to our current google domain

Your site is built using the open source WordPress software made by the people on WordPress.org. But that software is installed and hosted on Google’s servers.

That WordPress software is not the same thing as WordPress.com – we’re just one of many hosting providers for that software.

Support for that software is provided by the WordPress.org community at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/, but they also won’t be able to help with a hosting-related issue like configuring SSL or changing your domain’s DNS.
