DNS UPDATE

  DNS needs to be updated.

  I upgraded yesterday, and my bundle included a domain name which I selected ‘jidesalu.co.uk’. Now, I selected ‘jidesalu.co.uk’ as my primary domain. Tried to edit the DNS settings. Followed instructions by entering name servers ‘NS1.WORDPRESS.COM and NS2.WORDPRESS.COM’. It didn’t validate.

  I entered details below and it validated.

  CNAME autodiscover EXCHANGE.JIDESALU.CO.UK.
  MX 10 MAIL1.JIDESALU.CO.UK.
  MX 20 MAIL2.JIDESALU.CO.UK.
  MX 10 smtp-fwd.wordpress.com.
  TXT v=spf1 include:mail.example.com ~all
  A webmail 1.2.3.4
  SRV _xmpp-client._tcp 10 10 5269 JIDESALU.CO.UK.

  Ok. I thought the problem would be solved. No. It still says I should update my DNS.

  When I selected ‘jidesalu.co.uk’ as my primary domain, and tried to view my blog via the url, it came up with error. At the moment, I am using wordpress’s url which is http://babajidesalu.wordpress.com’

  Another puzzle is that ‘jidesalu.co.uk’ is still available for purchase on Godaddy. Why is this so when WORDPRESS has accepted it as my domain as part of my upgrade bundle.

  Not surprising, the email addresses I set up with ‘jidesalu.co.uk’ is bouncing back as error.

  .co.uk can’t be registered at WordPress.com, only mapped. Which means that you need to have this domain already registered somewhere. However, you can register .com .net .org or .me domains at WordPress.com.

  You can either register the .co.uk elsewhere or register one of the domain extensions as written above.

  I tried to register jide-salu.com, which is available. However, I was prompted that I would have to pay for it. Considering jidesalu.co.uk is of no use to me for the purpose to which I purchased it for, also, its still available, it will be unfair to include it in a bundle i have already paid $99 for. Also, I ought to have been prompted or forewarned that ‘.co.uk’ can’t be registered at wordpress.com It should have been declined.

  Help please. I need to register ‘jide-salu.com’

  I’ve just canceled the domain mapping for you, therefore you should now be able to register a domain without paying any extra fees.
