DNS Update

    Hi.
    I just renewed my subscription and can’t access my web site “Artbyflo.net” . It looks like the DNS needs to be updated. What do I have to do to make my site live ?

    Hi Florence – Your domain artbyflo.net isn’t currently registered by anyone. It’s possible that it expired with your registrar and was released. You can register it here, though! To do that, please go to Store->Domains and register it as a new domain, as described here:

    Thanks a lot for your answer . I really appreciated the quick response.
    i must admit though I’m confused. I used several months ago artbyflo.net but actually Artbyflo.co.nz would be even better. I ‘m happy to buy it if necessary, I just have no idea what to do.
    Btw on the same topic I bought on Go Daddy Artbyflo.com but same it doesn’t work.
    i looked at the tutorial you indicated, but frankly it’s too complex for me.
    is there anything simple i can do or would you be able to help me ?

    Hi Florence,

    Sure, I’m happy to help you with this. If you’d like to register artbyflo.net, simply go here:
    https://artbyflonet.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=domains

    Type artbyflo.net into the blank there and click the “Add domain to blog” button. Then, follow the prompts to fill out your registration information and purchase the domain. If you have any trouble, let me know!

    For the other two domains you’ve mentioned, artbyflo.co.nz and artbyflo.com, it’s a bit more complex because they aren’t registered through us, so you have to take some steps to point them here.

    If you are having trouble with it, the support where you bought your domain should be able to help you with the steps that have to happen on their end, but I think you’ll find if you try it out that it’s not actually as complicated as it seems at first glance.

    For your GoDaddy domain, here are their instructions for how to access the place where you need to change your name servers:

    Click the link for “Setting Nameservers for a Domain Name Registered with Us” and follow those instructions. You’ll want to delete these name servers entirely:
    DNS10.ACTIVEISP.COM
    DNS11.ACTIVEISP.COM
    DNS12.ACTIVEISP.COM

    And replace them with these:
    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

    Then, you need to add a mapping upgrade on our end, but I can help you out with that part. Let me know if you get stuck at any point!

    HI,
    sorry but it still doesn’t work.
    I can see that ARTBYFLO.CO.NZ seems to be valid but there is still a DNS issue
    Can you do it for me?

    Hi Florence,

    I can’t, because that domain isn’t registered through us, so I have no access to your DNS. Did you purchase the domain artbyflo.co.nz elsewhere? If so, whoever you bought it from should be able to help you change its name servers as described here:

    If you didn’t buy it anywhere else, but only bought the mapping upgrade for it here, then you haven’t actually registered that domain. We don’t sell .co.nz domains, so you can either purchase it from a registrar that does, and then have them help you update the name servers to point it here as described above. Or, you could simply purchase artbyflo.net from us, in which case you would not have to worry about any of that.

    If you’re still having trouble, can you please provide more detail about exactly which domain you’re currently trying to get set up, what step in the process I’ve described is tripping you up, and what happens when you try to follow it? That will better help me know how to proceed. :)

    Hi,
    I started everything from scratch. Did buy through your website a new domain name which is Art-by-Flo.com, registered it, paid for it.
    and followed the instructions as per video.
    I understand it won’t work immediately, taking a few hours to maybe a day. So hopefully tomorrow everybody (including me) will be able to access my website when typing Art-by-flo.com.
    If you can have a look it would be great.

    I removed the mapping for artbyflo.co.nz, since you aren’t currently using it, and I linked the new domain together with your bundle, so they will renew together. I also refunded the $26.00 you spent on the domain, since you get a free domain with your bundle. You should see that refund on your statement in about a week.
